Your North America winter packing guide
WHISTLER, CANADA
Village conditions and the higher mountain slopes can differ. Waterproof outerwear can be useful around the village as well as on snow days.
BANFF AND THE CANADIAN ROCKIES
Mountain conditions need careful planning. A clear road or trail at your starting point does not tell you what conditions will be like farther along your route. Check local trail information and warnings before heading out.
USA SKI DESTINATIONS
Use the forecast for your actual resort and elevation. Plan for changing weather and activity levels rather than treating a sunny morning as a promise for the whole day.
RESORT AND TOWN DAYS
Choose adjustable layers, an insulating jacket and footwear suited to the conditions underfoot.
SKI LESSONS
Start with a moisture-managing base, add insulation as needed, and finish with snow-suitable jacket and trousers. Confirm gloves, goggles, helmet and ski-equipment requirements with your provider.
WINTER WALKS
Carry extra warm clothing. Where paths are icy, appropriate traction equipment may be needed; ordinary boot tread is not a guarantee against slipping. Follow local advice and choose outings suitable for the least experienced person in your group.
YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Are winter boots and ski boots interchangeable?
No. Ask your ski provider about fitted ski boots; plan separate footwear for walking around town.
Can we use a summer hiking route in winter?
Do not assume so. Snow, ice and avalanche exposure can change which routes are appropriate.
BEFORE YOU PACK
Share your resort, travel month, activities and time outdoors. Bring ages, measurements and footwear sizes for each traveller. Try layers together; check sitting, bending and arm movement. Confirm operator age restrictions and equipment arrangements.
Book a Popsicle.Asia fitting in Singapore, or WhatsApp your resort, month and planned activities. Travelling with a newborn, children or adults needing sizes up to 5XL? Send ages and measurements so we can discuss fit and availability.
General packing guidance only. Check current local forecasts, warnings and your activity provider’s requirements before travel.
